Moved to new webhosting provider

Well, if anyone has been following the site over the last few days you will notice a few changes, or you may not.

I moved our site to a new provider today. Well, techincally it was bad to the provider I had previously used. The end result, for now is that the site operates about 10 times faster than it did before. I do have a few issues to still work out, like the site temporarily becoming unavailable at times. I will work through those though.

I am also currently working toward a few CMS for the site so this will change everything once I get that going. As stated in previous posts, this will probably result in users having to sign up again on the site.

I go back to work this week so hopefully I can get all the work I need done so I can free some time up to game. I was off the last week taking care of family stuff and worrying and responding to work so it really didnt seem like I was off.

Let us know if you notice a difference.

Working on new site

Just wanted to throw out a note that I am still working on a new website layout. I have been tooling around with this for awhile with little to no time to really work on it. I will be off work for about a week and will attempt to get this updated in that time.

The one thing to note is that I will basically not be able to import any of the old data into the new site. I have not been able to find any simple conversion tools and my knowledge of databases conversion is not that advanced. You will most likely need to recreate your userID and anything associated with it.

I am going to do this in an effort to make the site more usable and help it to stay up to date with current events, news and features. I would look for the entire community to help, going forward, with contribution that will help the site stay up to date and fresh.

CSS Server issues

Seems that as I was out on vacation the payment for the server did not process. This suspended the server and it was shutdown. I did pay the invoice about a week ago and just now found that it had not started. There was an issue with the reactivation process and it was still listing suspended.

This is resolved now and have fun leveling.

Team Fortress 2 Update Released

Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

New features

Added The Force-A-Nature, The Sandman, and Bonk!
Added 35 new Scout achievements

New Joe's servers and other stuff.

Missed us our there?

We have been pretty quiet for sometime now. Well, with work still heating up we are making the effort to pull the old band back together and asking you to come along.

We do not have our dedicated server currently but we may go back to that soon. After many games that have been released in the last year that did not seem to pan out but were promising we are going back to focusing on some standard games that we all know and love.

The current games will be TF2 and CSS with mods. We are also playing Left 4 Dead in pockets but always look to play with more friends.

Changes coming to Clan GIJoe

Some changes are coming to the structure of our clan. Please check back in our Clan News forum for the updates.

Changes will be associated with membership, levels of membership, server admins, and scheduling game nights.

We hope to get back to where we were years ago and before a lot of real life things started to change things. We will still be the same clan built on respect and honor but we hope to make it a little easier to be part of the family. With this other things need to change and those will be detailed as I can type them up.

CoD4 servers updated to 1.7

All Call of Duty 4 servers have been updated to version 1.7. All registered users can download this 1.6-1.7 update from the downloads section. You may also discuss the patch HERE

Call of Duty 4 servers updated to 1.6

Call of Duty 4 has released a new 1.6 update. This update includes 4 new maps.

All the Joes servers have been updated to the 1.6 and we have the client download avaiable in our downloads section.

Frontlines Fuel of War server is up!

We currently have one Frontlines Fuel of War server up and going. We can only have one because of a current bug in the server code where we have to bind it to the primary IP of the server.

The IP is currently 64.34.163.111

We will be moving this but since there are currently no favorites options it does not matter much. If I am missing something and there is a favorites option someone comment and let me know.

Website moving to new provider

Because of some growth and the possibility of saving some money I am working on moving the website to a new service provider here in the next couple days. Hopefully this will not impact our site but if you get a temp screen a few times this week when you try to connect that would probably be me.

This should allow for more content to be put on the site and higher traffic bandwidth.

The new provider allows for much more granularity that I did not have with the other provider. Example being, I can allow Wreck to upload his own maps to the CSS download directory. This is something that I could not do before as I would have to allow him access to the whole site. That is just something I would not allow for anyone.

Along with this, the storage for the site will grow from 1.5GB to 25GB, and monthly traffic available from 40GB to 400GB monthly.

This should also save about 5-8 dollars a month which does not seem like a lot but I paid the year up front so I wont see that monthly till next year.
